Neoseiulus cucumeris

(Formerly Amblyseius cucumeris)

The thrips predatory mite

Commonly known as the enemy of thrips. This predatory mite eats the eggs and larvae of most pest-forming thrips species. In addition, it also eats some mite species such as the Begonia mite (Polyphagotarsonemus latus), the cyclamen mite (Phytonemus pallidus),the tomato gall mite (Aculops lycopersici) and various spider mites.

This predatory mite survives on pollen in the absence of suitable prey, making it very useful as a preventive measure. To combat the adult stages of thrips as well, N. cucumeris can be combined with the predatory bug Orius laevigatus.
