Muscidifurax raptorellus
Parasitic wasp against fly pests
Muscidifurax raptorellusis a small inconspicuous parasitic wasp about 2mm in size. It is a parasitic wasp that lays its eggs in fly pupae. The wasp larvae that hatch from the eggs feed on the fly larvae in the pupa, this prevents the larva from developing into an adult fly. The parasitic wasp has no preference for a particular species and parasitizes the pupae of most of the pest-forming flies such as the housefly (Musca domestica), the stable fly (Stomoxys calcitrans) and various blowflies (Calliphoridae).
The parasitic wasp works well in combination with an egg-eating predatory mite such as Macrocheles robustulus or the Rhino Mite.
