Nematodes for natural control against fungus gnats

Fungus gnats
Fungus gnats are small flies equal in size to fruit flies. They can often be seen around plants in damp ground which is where they lay their eggs. The larvae that hatch from these eggs live in the soil and feed on the plantroots whihc causes harm to the plants. Nematodes will prevent these larvae from reaching the adult stage so no more fungus gnats emerge.

Nematodes
Nematodes are tiny worms that can be found in the gound naturally. This species of nematodes can be used as control agent for fungus gnats. The nematodes need to be mixed with water after which they can be spread over the ground. Once applied the nematodes will enter the larvae which makes them sick and causes them to stop eating. After a couple of days the larvae die. Outside, nematodes can best be applied in the evening. At this point there is less sunlight so the mixture won't dry as quick, which is beneficial. Naturally, when using nematodes inside this is less relevant.

Nematodes have a limited shelf life but can be stored for some weeks at 5-8 degrees celsius. See box for the exact expiration date.
